About The Dojo:
The dojo was formerly known as the Bujinkan of Northern Illinois, at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb until Shidoshi Gabe Logan relocated out of state and left the dojo in the hands of Kevin Clarke. With the core of students drifting increasingly further from the university , Kevin passing the saki test in Japan and relocating forty miles to the east, the dojo had changed enough in identity that it seemed the appropriate time to rename it. 無限草原 (Mü gen Sō gen) was chosen as the dojo name because we train in Illinois, the “Prairie State,” and the nature of the subject matter we study is endless.
The Bujinkan Mugen Sougen Dojo is comprised of a small group of students representing wide ranges of age, ability, background and motivation who come together to study Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu in a non-competitive atmosphere.
We attempt to emulate the training at the Bujinkan Hombu Dojo in Japan to the best of our ability. In order to be better enabled to realize that goal, Kevin returns at least annually to Japan and a number of our students have also made the trip as well to train directly with Hatsumi Soke and the Japanese Shihan.
